David Slaying Goliath

This is the painting of the almighty battle between two of the most known rivalries of all time, David versus Goliath. In this painting by Peter Paul Rubens, Rubens decides to portray the striking moment when David brings down the giant and takes possession of his sword and is about to slash the head of his adversary. The two colossal figures take over the entire painting with only a bit of fighting in the background. A strong circular motion of David's sword increases the tension and power of this painting. It also shows balance. The background landscape with the lightning displays a more dramatic scene to the image. It also extends in a large distance which points out the line of the horizon.
